Gamma Phi Beta’s local philanthropy is The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-threatening genetic disease affecting approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States.  For people with the disease, a defective gene causes the body to produce a faulty protein that leads to abnormally thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and can result in fatal lung infections.  In 1955, there was no centralized care system for CF patients.  Today, the CF Foundation accredits more than 115 care centers at major teaching and community hospitals, offering comprehensive, quality diagnosis and care nationwide.  For more information about CF, please visit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation website at http://www.cff.org/Chapters/washington/

        Gamma Phi Beta’s International philanthropy is Campfire USA. Gamma Phi Beta has primarily selected camps for underprivileged girls, as the focus of international charitable endeavors.  Each year, we contribute to this philanthropy by creating bags containing daily necessities for the girls attending the camps around the nation.  For more information about Campfire USA, visit their website at http://www.campfireusa.org/. 

        Throughout the year, Gamma Phis also participate in numerous other fraternity and sorority philanthropies such soccer tournaments and Delta Tau Delta’s Miss Greek.  In the past years Gamma Phi has won Sigma Chi’s Derby Days, Theta Chi’s Stampede and Phi Kappa Tau’s Fairy God Sister.
